Mango Madness Smoothie

One of the best ways to stay fit and healthy, increase energy levels, lose weight and improve the condition of our skin is by increasing the amount of nutrients in our diet. Increasing our intake of fruits and vegetables is an important step towards good health, however filling your plate with vegetables is not always that easy. Give your health a kick start by introducing smoothies into your daily diet to really give your body a boost of vitamins and antioxidants. Smoothies are easy to digest, packed full of nutrients and make a delicious snack or quick breakfast.

Smoothie are made in a blender which allows you to keep the fibre content of the fruit, which will help you feel fuller for longer, balance blood sugar and aid digestion. Fiona Tuck, Boost Juice’s Nutrition and Skin Expert has created this Mango Madness Smoothie which

Ingredients

1 cup of chopped mango, fresh or frozen

1/2 frozen banana

1 cup of milk

Ice cubes (optional)

Method

Blend all ingredients together in a blender until smooth. Add ice until desired consistency is achieved.

 

Mangoes and banana’s are high in magnesium which is an essential mineral that is required for over 300 enzymatic reactions within the body. It is also involved in the synthesis of fatty acids, proteins and neuromuscular communication.

 

Magnesium deficiency is hard to observe from physically observing the skin but it is prevalent due to foods being grown in magnesium deficient soil and the consumption of processed foods. Most of us would benefit from increasing magnesium rich foods, such as leafy greens, in our daily diet.
