Lena Dunham Had The Best Response To Being Praised For Her 'Weight Loss'

Lena Dunham created award-winning HBO series Girls at the age of 25, but she’s made headlines today for an entirely different reason.

The outspoken writer and director was targeted by a magazine due to her ‘dramatic slimdown’ and put on the cover alongside the headline, “How She Gets Motivated”.

But of course, not everyone approaches their fitness routine with the outcome of weight loss in mind, and Lena Dunham believes this is not something to be celebrated. This is particularly important as she has spoken out about her weight loss being linked to mental health issues like anxiety disorder in the past. Instead, workouts should be about a happier, healthier lifestyle and to improve your general wellbeing.

She addressed the matter on Instagram, instead providing some ironic ‘slimdown tips’ to prove her point that this is not what we should be focusing on.

So what can we all take from this? Your health and fitness is a personal thing and you shouldn’t be judged by it. Don’t workout for others, do it for yourself. And women are worth so much more than their looks, and their true achievements should be celebrated.
