Food Network to Launch a Live-Streaming Service Featuring Your Fave Celebrity Chefs

We’ve all heard of — and pined for our very own — Peloton spin bike or treadmill. You know, that incredibly expensive workout equipment that also requires you to pay an extra monthly fee for its app that boasts an impressive collection of over 9,500 classes. Yeah, well, move over Peloton because Food Network is here to steal your spotlight. In its mission to be the “Peloton of food,” Food Network is launching a streaming service of its own, featuring live classes from Ina Garten, Bobby Flay and many other beloved Food Network stars.

Considered the first-ever two-way, live interactive cooking streaming service, Discovery is launching Food Network Kitchen. You read that right: This service allowed viewers to interactive live with their favorite celebrity chefs, including the aforementioned Garten and Flay, as well as Rachael Ray, Martha Stewart, Alton Brown, Guy Fieri and Ree Drummond.

“We are re-imagining the direct-to-consumer experience as not just another entertainment service but as the ‘Peloton of Food’ accessible to everybody,” said David Zaslav, president and CEO, Discovery, Inc, in a prepared statement. “Food Network Kitchen brings the top chefs in the world directly to consumers’ kitchens through first-of-its-kind live interactive cooking classes, seamless e-commerce transactions, and the richest culinary media ecosystem in the world.”

For $6.99 per month or $59.99 per year, Food Network Kitchen will stream 25 new live cooking classes every week, and users will have access to not only 800 on-demand classes, over 100 step-by-step video recipes, thousands of instruction videos, a library of over 80,000 recipes, and a selection of commercial-free Food Network shows (including, yes, our queen Garten’s Barefoot Contessa), but users will also have access to five daily cooking classes. Plus, subscribers will have the ability to order ingredients from online-grocery services.

The best part? We won’t have to wait long for Food Network Kitchen to launch. It will be available on Amazon devices, IOS devices and Android devices in late October. Additional platforms will be added to the list next year.

You guys, we haven’t been more excited to pay for content since we downloaded Aaptiv. Stay tuned for the exact launch date.
