Dairy Queen Is Renaming Its Mini Royal Blizzard "the Royal Baby Blizzard" in Honor of Baby Sussex

This week is off to an epic start. Not only did Meghan Markle and Prince Harry welcome their first child (a boy!), but Dairy Queen is celebrating the arrival by renaming its iconic Mini Royal Blizzard. Following the birth, DQ announced the treat would be called the Royal Baby Blizzard for a limited-time.

Though we don’t have a lot of details on the actual royal baby, we do know *a lot* about the Blizzards. It’s not a new ice cream innovation or flavor, but rather the brand has opted to retitle an old favorite.

Dairy Queen’s Royal Blizzards are filled with ooey gooey hidden centers. Although they’ve previously released a variety of options—including my personal favorite, Oreo with fudge filling—the menu currently has the Royal Reese’s Brownie Blizzard and Royal New York Cheesecake Blizzard. The Reese’s option is swirled with the classic peanut butter cups and brownie pieces and also has a creamy peanut butter filling. The New York Cheesecake Blizzard has cheesecake and graham crackers with a strawberry center.

Dairy Queen updated customers on the temporary name change in a hilarious tweet earlier today. “We are filled with joy to announce…The arrival of The Royal Baby BLIZZARD Treat,” they wrote on Twitter. According to a rep for the brand, the Baby Sussex-inspired name change will last through the month of May.

The Royal Family’s Twitter account first updated fans that Meghan had gone into labor early this morning, before posting an official statement shortly after. “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Sussex was safely delivered of a son at 0526hrs this morning,” the announcement read. “The baby weighs 7lbs 3oz,” which is approximately the amount my food baby is going to weigh after I hit up DQ.
