It’s just one month till Australia hosts the Women’s Ashes cricket series – the biggest source of rivalry between our two nations. (It starts on October 22, 2017, with games around Oz). In the lead-up, female cricketers Alex Hartley (plays for England) and Lauren Cheatle (plays for Australia) go head to head on which country does everything better – from food to humour, coffee and sport. Ready for some a good clash?
Alex Hartley, English cricketer
Answering for England, Alex Hartley:
1. Who’s going to win the Ashes this year? Well, obviously I’m going to say England!
2. What’s the main way England’s better than Australia? Our kit is nicer!
3. If you moved to Australia from England, what would you miss most? I’d say only my family and friends – oh, and the northern tap water!
4. Who does it better for each of the following?
> Humour? England, we are just funnier.
> Weather? Australia, obviously.
> Food? Australia – you can’t beat a barbeque.
> Coffee? Australia, there are just so many coffee shops.
> Tea? It’s got to be England, although I hate tea so I don’t care.
> TV? Is America an option?
> Sport? We’re pretty equal I’d say.
> Shopping? Australia, but only because you can buy summer clothes all year round.
> Holiday destinations? Australia – all the beaches…
> Public transport? What kind of question is that? A bus is a bus?!
