Actress Megan Fox recently shared a sweet Instagram photo showing off Polaroids of her three sons, Noah, Bodhi, and Journey, with ex-husband Brian Austin Green. And commenters had a lot to say about the fact that Megan’s toddlers have long hair, and that 4-year-old Noah is dressed up as Elsa from Frozen in the snap.
For the most part, commenters praised Megan for not imposing gender roles on Noah, and letting him wear whatever he pleases.

“Beautiful to see your boy expressing himself,” one commenter wrote. “My 4 year old son loves to play dress up (with dresses) and LOVES Frozen and I fear he will someday be judged for it, and how it will make him feel. I just love letting him be who he is and that you do the same.”
Another person wrote “I love that you let your children wear what they want.”
When some trolls criticised Megan and Brian for their choices, accusing them of poor parenting, many others jumped to the couples’ defence, rightly stressing that a child’s preferred clothing or toys are nobody else’s business.
“What’s not to understand?” one user wrote. “Children play dress up. He’s been photographed wearing a Peter Pan costume, a Snow White one too… If I’d had a costume when I was a kid, I would have been Wolverine.”
Another user chimed in “I’ve worked [with] young children for a decade. In PreK/K there has never been one boy who DIDN’T put on the dresses in the costume play centre. And hair is just that: hair. None of these things mean anything about how a child will identify—I promise you.”

Another commenter addressed the actress directly: “Megan, you are doing just fine. Don’t listen to those haters. You let your boys be who they want to be. I don’t know what goes on behind closed doors, but your boys seem really happy to be able to be themselves instead of being forced to fit into archaic gender roles. Children see toys as just toys. They don’t care if it’s for boys or for girl. It is their narrow-minded parents who brainwash them into thinking that certain toys are for girls and certain toys are for boys and that they should only play with the toys that are for their gender. Keep it up!”
Megan has said that she was raised in an incredibly strict family, and wants to do the opposite for her own children.
“Noah wears dresses so there are no rules,” she once said during an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. “You can be whatever you want to be in my house!”
Cheers to that.
