If there’s one thing we love Chrissy Teigen for – aside from her ripper banana bread recipe – it’s her unabashed and unfiltered honesty when it comes to sharing her thoughts and feelings.
Case in point: her latest pregnancy update.
The 32-year-old is currently pregnant with her second child and well, let’s just say the experience is not all sunshine and rainbows. Chrissy took to Twitter to vent that the baby is currently “sucking the life” from her.
“Drinking my water, making me dry. Eating my food, making me hungry. Taking my health, making me sick. Why do we create these monsters they want us dead.”
Of course, this being the Internet, reactions were mixed – many fans appreciated the joke but some called the model out for “whining”.
While it’s completely normal for mums to have a much deserved moan about the trials and tribulations of pregnancy, Chrissy has also been praised for speaking openly about perinatal depression in the past.
“I have a great life. I have all the help I could need: John, my mother (who lives with us), a nanny. But postpartum [depression] does not discriminate,” she wrote for Glamour. “I couldn’t control it. And that’s part of the reason it took me so long to speak up: I felt selfish, icky, and weird saying aloud that I’m struggling. Sometimes I still do.
“I’m speaking up now because I want people to know it can happen to anybody and I don’t want people who have it to feel embarrassed or to feel alone,” she continued. “I also don’t want to pretend like I know everything about postpartum depression, because it can be different for everybody. But one thing I do know is that — for me — just merely being open about it helps.”
Hear, hear.
