Women's Health's Fitfluential Women Of 2019: Sarah Holloway

Sarah Holloway radiates positivity and energy – two attributes that have stood her in good stead on her journey from high-flying lawyer to co-founder of organic matcha tea business Matcha Maiden and its Melbourne cafe, Matcha Mylkbar. As if the bubbly 30-year-old wasn’t busy enough, this self-described ‘funtrepreneur’ with more than 59,000 Insta followers is also the creator of one of the happiest podcasts around, Seize the Yay, in which she interviews inspiring folk about what really makes them tick.

I’ve always been excited about life and full of energy to make the most of each day. I think it stems from my childhood. I was adopted from an orphanage in South Korea and came here at six months old, so I’ve always been acutely aware of how lucky I am to live in this beautiful country.

Having such high energy can sometimes deplete you a little though, so I do need to take time to replenish it. I like to have some alone time with a book or my golden retriever, or go out for brunch.

Leaving the corporate world for my own biz was scary. There were the risks of leaving a stable, respectable career. However, the bigger risk in my mind was being too conservative and comfortable, and never really seeing what else I was capable of, or where the business could go.

My mission statement for using Instagram? To create joy and spark change for the better. My purpose is to help people find their ‘yay’ and encourage them to go after it, which is only possible when my messages are relatable. So, I try to show all the different facets of building a life you love, including all the crappy bits behind the scenes – the anxiety, stress, burnout – in between all the goal-kicking, laughter and, of course, smiles.
