McDonald’s Just Released Spicy Chicken Nuggets and a Chips Ahoy! Cookie McFlurry

Big things are happening at McDonald’s, which means a trip to the drive-thru is a must come Sept. 16. The fast-food chain has not one, not two, but three new menu items, so good news if you like nuggets and ice cream.

The Spicy Chicken McNuggets will add some heat to the classic item. They’re breaded with a tempura coating that includes cayenne and chili peppers. But what good are nuggets without dipping sauce? Forget about those Sweet ‘N Sour and Tangy Barbecue sauces for now, because McDonald’s also has a new Mighty Hot Sauce. As if the spice from the nuggets wasn’t enough, this sauce combines crushed red peppers and chilis. It’s the first new sauce innovation since 2017, so it had to come in with a bang! Both are available for a limited time.

To wash down all that heat, McDonald’s has a new dessert (for when the ice cream machine isn’t out of order, of course). The Chips Ahoy! McFlurry is made with vanilla soft-serve that’s blended with caramel topping and chocolate chip cookie pieces. You’ll be able to order it in Snack and Regular sizes. The best part is that it joins the Oreo and M&M’s varieties as a year-round flavor, so you don’t have to worry about it going anywhere.

“This is the first time we’ve introduced a new flavor of our classic Chicken McNuggets in the U.S. since they came to menus in 1983,” Linda VanGosen, vice president of menu innovation, said in a press release. “As our customers have been asking for Spicy McNuggets for some time now, we couldn’t think of a better time to bring them to our menus. We can’t wait for McNuggets fans to get a taste of these new spicy options.”

You can order the Spicy Chicken McNuggets, Mighty Hot Sauce, and Chips Ahoy! McFlurry at participating McDonald’s locations beginning on Sept. 16. As mentioned, the nuggets and sauce are limited-edition, but the McFlurry is here to stay. Something tells us the drive-thru is going to be a mile long that Wednesday.
