Are you an exercise phobe?
You’ll be pleased to know that you can slim down without stepping foot in a gym.
As abs are made in the kitchen, toning your tummy can be as easy as incorporating fat-burning foods into your diet.
Diet expert Terri-Ann Nunns revealed what you should be eating to see the best results.
Here are her top tips.
Seven foods to help reduce belly fat and stomach bloating, according to diet expert Terri-Ann Nunns
1. Whole-wheat foods
Fibre is vital to ensuring your digestive system is working as it should.
The easiest change you can make to get more fibre in your diet is switching your usual carbohydrates to whole-wheat foods – think brown bread, wholegrain pasta and rice, as well as oats, barley and rye.
2. Avocado
As well as being delicious, avocados are a great source of good fats.
This fruit is rich in monounsaturated fat, which studies have shown can help control blood sugar and target visceral fat – which sits deep in the abdomen and has been linked to an increased risk of diabetes.
3. Nuts
People who snack on nuts could have a lower amount of belly fat than those who choose traditional carb based snacks, according to a 2015 study.
4. Eggs
Avoid reaching for unhealthy belly-expanding snacks by filling up on high protein foods.
Eggs are the perfect high protein breakfast food – and they’ve been linked to weight loss and reduced tummy fat.
5. Bananas
This super fruit is packed full of vitamins.
Bananas contain magnesium and potassium, which have been shown to offset the effects of salty processed foods that cause bloating.
6. Yoghurt
Another bloat-busting superfood, yoghurt, encourages the growth of healthy bacteria in your gut.
This works to banish bad bacteria which can cause a bloated belly.
7. Green tea
If you want to tone your tum, try swapping your regular cuppa for a cup of green tea.
Just one cup can increase the antioxidants in your blood, called catechins.
The most important one of these is epigallocatechin gallate, a substance that can boost metabolism.
