I have a tendency to carry around gigantic bags that allow me to bring along everything I could possibly need, but mostly things I'll never need while I'm out and about. (For example, right now, there is a literal mold of my face given to me by an aesthetician after a recent Babor facial; I have no idea why I'm carrying this thing around other than to scare myself when I reach for my wallet.) That includes an overstuffed makeup bag that would make a TSA agent cry. So when an outfit or event calls for a teensy-tiny clutch, I panic. How can I be expected to venture out into the world for one evening without a month's worth of cosmetics? Hell, I can't even fit a palette in my smallest bag — what am I supposed to do if my blush fades, my bronzer pales, and my highlight becomes decidedly less lit?
Luckily, new and already blockbuster brand Flesh Beauty has heard my teeth rattling in dread and responded with its new Flipbook. Although the name suggests it's filled with illustrated pages that look animated when quickly leafed through, it actually contains 100 sheets of blush, bronzer, and highlighter. Brilliant, right? I know.
Each fragrance-free sheet in the Flipbook is permeated with one of three universally flattering shades: a matte medium pink, a deep golden bronze, or a shimmery rose-beige. You just tear out the one you need and sweep it over the area of skin you want to touch up, whether that's your cheeks, collarbones, or legs. They work best on bare skin, but they go on just as beautifully over makeup as long as you press instead of rub. But regardless of whether you're applying it atop a clean complexion or foundation, the pigment goes on and stays on, so your first touch up will likely be the only one you'll need.
Taking up less space than a pack of cards (not that I've been carrying around a pack of cards in my clutch lately — or ever), Flipbook is a total game-changer in terms of convenience, not to mention when it comes to preventing spills — because the only thing worse than your makeup breaking is your makeup breaking all over the interior fabric of your favorite bag. Just be careful not to confuse them with blotting papers, lest you want a pretty pink impression left between your eyebrows.
Flipbook will be available for $22 at ulta.com on August 12, and in Ulta stores on August 27.
