Avon Products Inc. has appointed José Vicente Marino executive vice president and general manager for Brazil.
Marino was most recently president of Flora Cosméticos e Limpeza, a beauty and hygiene product business owned by JBS Group. He also worked at Natura & Co., most recently as chief operating officer, where he led a multi-channel and multi-brand strategy as well as the sales team. Marino has also worked at Johnson & Johnson and BestFoods, which is now owned by Unilever.
Marino will start at Avon Sept. 17. He will be tasked with accelerating growth in Brazil, which took a hit during Avon's most recent quarter because of a truckers' strike. Brazil is Avon's largest market.
"We are delighted to welcome José Vicente to our executive leadership team," said Jan Zijderveld, Avon's chief executive officer. "His direct selling expertise, deep knowledge of Brazil, the consumer products industry and disciplined leadership skills, alongside a proven track record in driving growth and turning businesses around, will add tremendous energy to accelerating our business opportunities in Brazil."
