Jaclyn Hill on Making a Highlighter

Beauty influencer Jaclyn Hill sure knows how to make a highlighter.
Her collaborations with Becca Cosmetics have moved millions of dollars worth of products in mere minutes — for example, the first, called Champagne Pop, sold out 25,000 units on Sephora.com in 20 minutes. When the following one, the Champagne Collection, came out, the highlighter formulations in cream and liquid, as well as the face palette, did more than $3.5 million in sales in the first day.
Three years after the debut of her Champagne Pop highlighter, Hill stopped by WWD to do it all again — in a much less formal capacity. For her master highlight creations, crafted in the WWD photo studio with products borrowed from the WWD beauty closet, watch the full video.

When Hill isn't chasing the perfect glow, she's working on her own makeup line — now due out in early 2019 — and continuing her collaboration streak. Hill's product launch, which has been in the works for years, is still slated to launch with lip products, she said.
On the collaboration side, Hill is plotting the release of her latest project with Morphe, an eye shadow vault slated to drop in mid-August. This is one of several collaborations she's done with the brand. Another eye shadow palette the two worked on hit the Internet in June 2017.
Hill was one of the first beauty influencers to land deals with brands that were collaborations rather than endorsements — when she did the Becca projects, her name was on the package. Several years later, that is now standard procedure for brands looking to work with the beauty influencer set. Recent examples include Patrick Starrr for MAC Cosmetics and ItsMyRayeRaye for BH Cosmetics.
