Delicious food-of-the-gods it may be, but no one is going to argue with the fact that Nutella isn’t exactly healthy.
In fact, a 400g jar of the toothsome chocolate spread also contains over 227g of sugar.
While this no doubt contributes to its tastiness, that’s also TWO THIRDS of your 30g RDA of sugar, based on a serving of containing 20g.
But Nutella isn’t made from sugar alone.
While it only comprises of five ingredients, you might be surprised to see how these ingredients are proportioned.

From peanut butter to soap, palm oil is found in hundreds of foods and products.
But back in 2016 Ferrero (who manufacture Nutella) had to defend themselves against claims from the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) which said palm oil is carcinogenic.
Ferrero were forced to issue a statement:
"Making Nutella without palm oil would produce an inferior substitute for the real product, it would be a step backward," Vincenzo Tapella from Ferrero told Reuters.
Nutella also explain how the palm oil they use is sustainably sourced – which is one of the chief criticisms of palm oil usage.
