Zoe Foster Blake Reveals How She’s Dealing With Pregnancy Stretch Marks

When it comes to prepping for pregnancy, we’re open to any advice from mums who have been there, done that. So when writer and beauty guru, Zoe Foster Blake, drops a bit of tried and tested wisdom on the ‘Gram we’re all ears.

The 36-year-old, who is expecting her second child with radio host husband Hamish Blake, recently shared her tip for preventing pregnancy stretch marks.

“After “What’s that you’ve spilled on your shirt?” a question I’m asked lots is what I use to prevent stretch marks,” Zoe posted on instagram.

“Well, here she is, my very own @gotoskincare Exceptionoil. I apply all over my tummy, bum, mid-back, tah-tahs, and thighs (especially the upper sides of the thighs), each night. I begin this circus at around 10 weeks, and keep it up for a few months post-birth as the skin shrinks. (I have stretchies for the record, and they don’t bother me, but if I can prevent a tonne more and help my skin stay elastic as I gestate, well, I will.)”

She recommends that those who prefer a thicker product could mix in some body butter, but she personally prefers a lightweight feel.

However she warns mums-to-be off stressing too much about the natural and common scars.

“Keep in mind that just like blonde hair and liking Snickers, stretch marks are largely genetic. But you can certainly improve your chances of avoiding them by keeping the skin supple and well conditioned.”

After "What's that you've spilled on your shirt?" a question I'm asked lots is what I use to prevent stretchmarks. Well, here she is, my very own @gotoskincare Exceptionoil. I apply all over my tummy, bum, mid-back, tah-tahs, and thighs (especially the upper sides of the thighs), each night. I begin this circus at around 10 weeks, and keep it up for a few months post-birth as the skin shrinks. (I have stretchies for the record, and they don't bother me, but if I can prevent a tonne more and help my skin stay elastic as I gestate, well, I will.) For me, the ideal body oil is lightweight with terrific slip and spread so you don't need much, but if you crave something thicker, mix it in with some body butter or body lotion. I hate anything too thick or cloying on the skin when pregnant, it just adds an unnecessary invisible blanket and more fuel for my inability to sleep. Keep in mind that just like blonde hair and liking Snickers, stretchmarks are largely genetic. But you can certainly improve your chances of avoiding them by keeping the skin supple and well conditioned. Also, did I mention Exceptionoil smells like cocktails and tropical holidays and boasts Appellation of Origin certification, which means we get our Monoï de Tahiti from Tahiti, and it's the real deal? No? Consider it very mentioned. ?
