Britney Spears has reportedly checked into a mental health facility after being under “tremendous stress” over her father’s current health battle, ET reports.
The news follows just a few hours after Britney shared a quote on Instagram that read, “Fall in love with taking care of yourself, mind, body, spirit,” and captioned the post, “We all need to take time for a little ‘me time.’ :)”

In January, the 37-year-old star went on an “indefinite work hiatus,” and put her Las Vegas show, Britney: Domination, on hold until further notice, according to ET. The reason? Family—more specifically, to take care of her father, Jamie Spears, who was rushed to the hospital in November due to a ruptured colon. After spending 28 days recovering from a “life-threatening illness,” Spears was released and expected to make a full recovery, ET said.
Unfortunately, however, January proved difficult for Jamie, which Britney shared on her Instagram and Twitter, explaining that she had to make the “difficult decision to put [her] full focus and energy on [her] family at this time.”

I don’t even know where to start with this, because this is so tough for me to say. I will not be performing my new show Domination. I’ve been looking forward to this show and seeing all of you this year, so doing this breaks my heart. However, it’s important to always put your family first… and that’s the decision I had to make. A couple of months ago, my father was hospitalized and almost died. We’re all so grateful that he came out of it alive, but he still has a long road ahead of him. I had to make the difficult decision to put my full focus and energy on my family at this time. I hope you all can understand. More information on ticket refunds is available on britneyspears.com. I appreciate your prayers and support for my family during this time. Thank you, and love you all… always.

Most recently, the patriarch’s health worsened further. “He nearly died and actually had another surgery a few weeks ago. He’s not doing well,” a source told People.
Understandably, this hasn’t been easy for Britney, who, per People‘s source, is “so close” with her father and the past months “have been a lot.” The source continued, explaining, “There is nothing dramatic going on with her—she just realized she needs to make sure to take time to care for herself.”
Jamie has been the permanent conservator of Britney’s affairs and estate since 2008, People notes.
