This Instagrammer Lost More Than Half Her Body Weight And Is Now Getting Real About Excess Skin

Body positivity blogger Jessica Weber has taken to Instagram to share a rarely talked about reality of drastic weight loss: excess skin.

The 24-year-old has garnered more than 36,000 followers since she first began documenting her fitness journey, which saw her lose almost 80kgs in just 15 months. But it’s her brutal honesty about her body transformation that’s been the key to her popularity.

“This is my reality! This is my life! When you lose 180 pounds, the skin doesn’t just suck back up!” she captioned side-by-side of photos of herself with no top on.

“I have been learning to deal with it, even with wanting to lose a bit more weight and have surgery! This is my life until then and I will not hate my body anymore!”

The Illinois-native regularly speaks candidly about the daily health problems and discomfort that coincide with her drastic slim down, including “itching,” “rashes,” and “smelling.”

I am at peace with where I am! I have decided that my goal weight is now 180 instead of 160! I am not looking to be super thin at the end of this journey and that is why I have changed my goals! I am ready for skin removal to happen for multiple reasons but mainly for the discomfort it gives me on a daily basis from itching to rashes to smelling! All TMI but its reality! I have gained some weight but my mind is back on track and I'm ready to push myself to 180 and get my surgery! She even gets real about the difficulties she faces finding clothes that fit.

And while one day she hopes to have surgery to remove her excess skin, ultimately, Jessica remains committed to loving her figure, no matter how it looks.

“Body acceptance to me just means loving everything about your body even when you want to improve,” she told ATTN:.“It means accepting yourself as you are until you get to be where you want to be.”
