What: Washington University leaders will join members of the university community to celebrate at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 9.
Following more than two years of construction, the final beam will be signed by Washington University leaders and guests, and placed atop the Neuroscience Research Building under construction on the eastern edge of the Washington University Medical Campus. The $616 million facility, one of the largest neuroscience research buildings in the country, will house more than 100 research teams to advance new discoveries related to Alzheimer’s disease, brain tumors, spinal cord injury, psychiatric illnesses and many other neurological conditions.
When the state-of-the art research building at 4370 Duncan Ave. is completed in August 2023, it will hold enough steel to stretch 2,125 miles, enough drywall to cover 31 football fields and enough concrete to fill 6,500 truckloads.
