Dr. Pimple Popper Tackles a Gooey Pore of Winer

  • In her latest Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper removes a small overgrown blackhead.
  • Technically, the blackhead is called a pore of Winer—essentially an open pore filled with dead skin cells.
  • Dilated pores of Winer are removed for cosmetic purposes.

Pimples … blackheads … cysts … these are the kinds of pesky skin annoyances that we hear about all the time. But a “pore of Winer” may as well be some sort of Game of Thrones reference for all I know. Dr. Pimple Popper went after a small one in an Instagram video she just posted, and man is this little guy full of surprises.

In the first few seconds of the video, you can see things get a little iffy in the area surrounding the pore, with some light traces of blood from poking and prodding. Then dermatologist Sandra Lee, MD, cranks out the big guns with her comedone extractor—a special tool with a teeny loop on one end to remove whiteheads and a larger loop on the opposite end to remove blackheads.

“It’s right where you can’t feel it,” she tells the patient. “It’s kind of up in there a little bit.

It’s kind of sticky and dry.

Lee explains that this dilated pore of winer (DPOW) is essentially a big blackhead. There’s a decent amount of gooey goodness inside that teeny tiny opening at the skin’s surface, which she extracts almost effortlessly and then the video ends. She also tells the male patient that he may not have noticed it, since it’s somewhere he can’t see. Thank god for check-ups with Dr. P, right!?

One thing’s for sure: spring cleaning—it’s not just for your home.
