Several key executives are shifting positions in the beauty world.Sam Cheow, who spearheads trends for L’Oréal USA, is joining L’Oréal-owned NYX as senior vice president of global product development, WWD has confirmed. Dana Paris, formerly the chief marketing officer for Vogue International, is joining SkinFix as chief marketing officer. At Henkel, Christoph Kaul has been appointed general manager of Kenra.Sam Cheow Joins NYX Sam CheowAs senior vice president of global product development at NYX, Cheow will oversee all product development for NYX, which makes makeup-artist-level products at more affordable prices. He will report to Nathalie Kristo, global brand president. He starts May 14.Cheow has been with L’Oréal since 2004. Currently, he is L’Oréal USA’s chief product accelerator — a job he created — where he helps identify beauty trends and work them into L’Oréal brands. In 2017, Cheow was named one of WWD’s 10 of Tomorrow.L’Oréal bought NYX in 2014. At that point, NYX had grown rapidly and had done about $93 million in sales for the 12 months before its acquisition. Today, the brand is much larger — sources estimated NYX did between $650 million and $675 million in sales for 2017. The company was founded by Toni Ko in 1999.Dana Paris Appointed New Role at SkinFix Dana ParisParis is joining SkinFix as chief marketing officer, effective May 14. She previously held the same position at Vogue International, which was acquired by Johnson & Johnson in 2016.In her new role, Paris will report to SkinFix chief executive officer Amy Regan. She will be focused on solidifying SkinFix’s “premium positioning” and getting the products to consumers that are “interested in evolving their skin-care routine into the more natural space,” Paris said.Before Vogue, Paris held a variety of marketing roles at L’Oréal, including vice president of customer marketing for L’Oréal Paris. SkinFix is working to build out its management team. Paris is SkinFix’s first chief marketing officer, and the brand has also appointed Jane Meredith senior vice president of sales.Christoph Kaul Tapped for Kenra GM Christoph KaulKaul, who joined Henkel’s beauty team in 2013, has been appointed general manager for Kenra Professional. In the new role, Kaul will be responsible for developing the Kenra Professional team and innovation.Henkel acquired Kenra in 2014. The brand is now the leading business in Henkel’s professional hair portfolio, according to the business. It has about 70 employees.Most recently, Kaul was vice president of marketing for Kenra Professional, but he has more than a decade of beauty industry experience, including the relaunch of Schwarzkopf Professional’s BlondMe product line.
