It’s a green new world full of opportunity for CBD and THC beauty and wellness brands. Cannabis companies are IPOing and heading out on the acquisition trail within a matter of days.
After going public May 2, California-based Indus Holdings Inc. today revealed the acquisition of Humble Flower Co., a female-owned and operated company founded in Humboldt County, Calif., and now based in Los Angeles that delivers hemp-based THC and CBD cannabis-infused topical products. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Founded in 2014 by hospitality veteran Robert Weakley and based in Salinas, Calif., Indus is a vertically integrated cannabis company, including cultivation, extraction, manufacturing, brand sales and marketing, and distribution capabilities that works with Beboe, Acme Elixirs and more. Humble Flower Co. joins several other brands already in the Indus-owned portfolio: edibles brands Altai and Moon; flower brands Cypress Cannabis and House Weed; concentrate brand Flavor, and Original Pot Co. cookies.
Founded in 2016 by Thea Wayne and Jordan Darian, Humble Flower produces cannabis-infused lotions and oils combining THC and CBD, promising hydrating properties and topical relief from pain and other ailments. Humble Flower is one of the debut brands featured in Saks Fifth Avenue's first CBD pop-up, which opened May 1 at the Fifth Avenue flagship in New York. Also charting a course for CBD wellness products in the luxury retail space, Barneys New York recently opened The High End shop-in-shop in Beverly Hills featuring smoking accessories, CBD beauty products and access to order Beboe cannabis vape pens, while Neiman Marcus has expanded its CBD beauty offerings.
"Indus Holdings Inc. has always been a forward-thinking organization in search of forward-thinking brands that share our ideals and goals for growing this industry," said Indus cofounder and chief executive officer Robert Weakley. "Thea Wayne and Jordan Darian are pioneers in the health and beauty segment of the cannabis space and the perfect partners as we make our first move into luxury cannabis and CBD skin-care products. This is a tremendous step forward for Indus and we are extremely fortunate to have Humble Flower Co. among our brands."
"The timing for this partnership couldn't be better for Humble Flower Co.," Darian added. "With Indus, we will be able to reach places we could never go without their support — both financially and logistically. Now we can expand our reach and grow the Humble Flower Co. brand, allowing us to enrich so many more people's lives."
