Big news, This Is Us fans: Chrissy Metz has a new boyfriend! Chrissy has coyly referenced him lately on social media and in interviews, but now he’s (finally) been IDed.
His name is Hal Rosenfeld, People confirms, and he’s a composer. The couple was most recently spotted together at W Hollywood’s The Living Room for Jazz Night on Sunday, where they were joined by actress Francia Raisa (who famously donated one of her kidneys to Selena Gomez).
There’s not a ton of info out there on these two, but here’s what we know so far:
There’s a solid age gap between them.
Chrissy is 38, and Hal is 25, People says. The fact that Chrissy has just joined the long list of celebs who are dating someone much younger (or older) than them doesn’t seem to bother her. She recently told a photographer, per Us Weekly, that you won’t find her on a dating app anytime soon. “I don’t need to be on those,” she said. “Maybe I’ve already found [what I’m looking for].”
Hal’s a busy guy.
According to IMDB, he’s worked on a bunch of TV shows and movies, including the Wonder Woman TV series, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, A Series of Unfortunate Events, and The Mayor. Hal has done everything from being an assistant to a composer to a score technical assistant to being a composer, musician, and orchestrator on shows and movies. His Instagram is also packed with pics from his work.
Hal is a drummer, too.

Hal recently shared a video on Instagram of a drum solo he did during singer Vidya Iyer’s concert. “Throwback to a drum solo and trading last year in 100° Chennai, India with @jomygeorgemusic during a @vidyavoxwardrobe change,” he wrote. ” I miss playing with my #VidyaVox family.”
Chrissy’s not exactly the only famous person Hal knows.

Hal was involved with the music on Kodachrome and shared a photo on Instagram in April of himself with the movie’s star, Jason Sudekis. “You’ll hear Jason Sudeikis, Ed Harris, and myself drumming!” he captioned the pic. “It was really cool to talk drums and hear Jason tell me about his @ccdrumco kit.”
He apparently ‘adores’ Chrissy.
The two have been dating for a few months now, a source told Us Weekly. “He is such a sweet guy and everyone around Chrissy really likes him,” the source said. “He adores her, and she is really into him as well.”
They seem pretty serious.

While the relationship seems fairly new, Hal was definitely at Chrissy’s birthday celebration/getaway in October. She posted a photo of herself embracing Hal (with a few other guys in the photo, too), next to the caption, “Reminiscing about one special birthday weekend with a few special people at such a special place.”
He’s kept his romance pretty quiet.
Hal hasn’t been bragging all over social media that he’s with Kate from This Is Us (a good sign if you ask me). Seems like he knows how to date a famous woman and keep private things private.
Sure, it’s new, but these two seem pretty into each other so far…
