Christine Blasey Ford, the professor who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of having sexually assaulted her when they were teenagers, will now be testifying before the Senate Judiciary Committee on Thursday, September 27, and not Monday, September 24, as originally anticipated. However, many of Ford's supporters are planning to spend part of Monday showing they believe her. An event posted to Facebook with the backing 23 organizations — including Women's March, MoveOn, and End Rape on Campus — is encouraging people to wear black and participate in a walkout.
"Dr. Christine Blasey Ford has bravely come forward and shared her story about her sexual assault at the hands of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh. Even though Dr. Blasey Ford has repeatedly stated her desire to testify and bravely share her story, Senate Republicans are doing everything they can to shame, bully, and force her to testify under their unacceptable, inappropriate conditions," Monday's event details state. Ford has been denied her request to testify about the alleged incident after Kavanaugh, who has denied the allegations, testifies. Despite this and Republican senators arguing against Ford's requested FBI investigation, her attorney said in a statement that she will appear on Thursday at 10 a.m. ET.
"At 1 p.m. EST Monday, join us for a national walk-out to show our support for Dr. Blasey Ford. All you need to do is wear black and walk out — of your home, your office, your classroom, wherever you are — and post a picture to your social media with the hashtag #BelieveSurvivors," details for the event, called National Walk Out: Support Dr. Blasey Ford, continue. "If you can’t walk out, you can show your support by posting a video or a picture to this event. Help spread the word: we believe Dr. Blasey Ford. We believe survivors. And we won’t stand for Senate Republicans’ despicable attempts to strong-arm a sexual assault survivor."

The Facebook event page also notes that those in the Washington, D.C., area are encouraged to convene in the Senate Hart Atrium at 12:30 p.m. for the walkout. An email from activist Sarah Sophie Flicker, who recently drew "Stop Kavanaugh" on her arm before attending the Emmy Awards, says there will also be an event called NYC Stands With Survivors on the steps of Manhattan's City Hall; supporters in the area are invited to attend at 11 a.m.
Over the weekend, new allegations of sexual misconduct against Kavanaugh were made by one of his former Yale classmates, Deborah Ramirez. The New Yorker reported that Democratic senators are pushing for a full investigation of this alleged incident as well.
