It recommends that all children should be vaccinated at the age of 11 or 12 years.
Almost every person who is sexually active, infected at some point with HPV. Most of the infections disappear on its own, but some persist and cause cell changes that develop slowly to a cancer. HPV types 16 and 18 cause 70 percent of all carcinomas of the cervix is responsible.
