Doctors used an electric saw to cut ball bearings off a man’s penis

Man, 33, nearly loses his penis after it became wedged inside two steel ball bearings during a bizarre attempt to pleasure himself before it was saved by doctors using a SAW

  • He left the bearings on his penis for two weeks before seeking medical help
  • He had developed pre-gangrene, meaning the flesh was starting to die
  • Conventional medical treatments didn’t work so doctors used a marble saw
  • They called it a ‘desperate measure’ and recommended others avoid doing it

A man who got two ball bearings stuck on his penis after putting them there for sexual pleasure nearly lost his member when it started to rot.

The unnamed 33-year-old had left the rings on the shaft of his penis for two weeks before visiting the hospital with pain and swelling.

After normal treatment failed, doctors resorted to using an industrial stone-cutting saw to hack off the metal rings in what they called a ‘desperate measure’.

The medics at UCMS & GTB Hospital in New Delhi, India, described the unfortunate man’s penis as ‘engorged’ and ‘tender’, and it appeared red raw in photos.

Thanks to their extreme efforts, however, the penis was rescued from getting gangrene and dropping off, and he was able to get erections again within a fortnight.

Doctors said they needed a desperate measure to fix a desperate situation: They used a circular saw designed for cutting marble to hack the steel hoops off the man’s penis

The man went to the hospital complaining of progressive pain and swelling in his penis and told doctors the bearings had been there for two weeks.

He slid the ball bearings onto his penis ‘for sexual gratification’ and could not get them off again because they were so tight.

Pre-gangrene developed because the bearings were ‘strangulating the root of [the] penis’, the medics wrote, meaning his flesh was starved of blood and about to start dying.

Doctors tried giving the man injections to shrink his penis, using a pressure cuff to squeeze it, and using a small wire medical saw to cut the metal but they all failed.

Needing to act fast to stop gangrene setting in and causing irreparable damage, the doctors opted for a bigger power tool – a spinning circular saw used to cut marble.

In an illustrated article in the journal BMJ Case Reports, they wrote: ‘To ensure penile salvage in desperate situations [it may be necessary] to use desperate measures that may be unconventional and are difficult to avoid.’

It took 15 minutes of cutting with the Bosch GDC 120 saw, the blade of which spins at up to 200 times a second, for the doctors to cut away the steel bearings.

During the procedure – which was done under anaesthetic – they had to drip cold water onto the man’s penis to stop it being damaged by the heat of the cutting disc.

They successfully removed the metal and the man’s swelling went down after a couple of days.

He was kept in hospital for a week before being sent home, and during a check-up after two weeks he said he regularly got erections in the night and in the morning.

The man is now being given counselling.

The doctors added: ‘Penile strangulation by steel ball bearings can occur uncommonly secondary to their placement for sexual gratification.

‘If left untreated they have the potential to cause penile gangrene, urethral injury and erectile dysfunction.’

And they said if other doctors find themselves in similar positions they should use ‘extreme caution’.

‘We do not promote the unauthorised use of any equipment,’ they added, ‘and advocatethe reader to exercise judicious care, extreme caution, follow all necessary procedures, training, credentialing and laws.’

FITNESS FANATIC GETS HIS PENIS STUCK IN A 2.5KG WEIGHT

A fitness fanatic was rushed to hospital last year after getting his penis stuck in a hole in a weight.

The unnamed patient from Germany was rushed to hospital, where doctors called in firefighters to free his purple and swollen genitals.

They spent three hours using specialist equipment to free him from the 2.5kg (5Ib 8oz) weight. They used a grinder and vibrating saw to remove the metal.

The fire brigade, after freeing the man, shared an image of the broken disk, describing it as a ‘curious training accident’, but pictures of the weight on the man’s body were also leaked online.

It took three hours to help the man in Germany, whose penis had become stuck in the weight’s hole which is designed to put the weightlifting bar through
