The Quick Bread Recipes That Are Bursting With Fall Flavors

Cooler weather brings out the inner baker in all of us. But not everyone is up to the challenge (or timeline) of a yeast bread. Enter the humble quick bread.

Quick breads are any bread leavened without yeast or using only eggs as the leavening agent. That’s generally baking powder and/or baking soda. Even if you’ve never heard the term, you’ve been eating some form of quick bread your whole life. Examples include cake, cornbread, beer breads, soda breads, biscuits and even cookies. Though we’d forgive you if you prefer to think of the latter two as their own separate and glorious edibles. Life’s too short for only two categories of bread.

And if you can make a boxed cake, you can make a quick bread. Whether you’re into classic banana or carrot, want to go basic PSL or feel like experimenting with cream cheese swirls and walnut streusel, put one of these fabulous fall-flavored quick breads on your table this week. You won’t be sorry.

Healthy Pumpkin Gingerbread

Pumpkin purée adds moisture to this ginger quick bread with the cozy fall flavors of nutmeg, cinnamon and maple syrup.

Apple Bread with Crumb Topping

Making an entire apple pie is a big time commitment. Luckily, this easier and quicker bread version of apple pie exists.

Cranberry-Orange Banana Bread

Since oranges and bananas are available virtually year-round and you can make it with dried cranberries, you can make this cranberry-orange banana bread any time you crave it. But take advantage of the fall availability of fresh tart cranberries at least once a year.

Caramel Cheesecake-Stuffed Apple Bread

How do you make Halloween staple caramel apples even better? Load them with carbs and tang by making them into a caramel cheesecake-stuffed apple quick bread.

Carrot Bread With Cream Cheese Frosting

Harvested at their peak just before the last frost of fall, carrots combine with squash to make a carrot cake-flavored quick bread. If you can’t find zucchini in your area this time of year — it is technically a summer squash, after all — don’t worry. An equal amount of pumpkin purée is a fantastic substitute.

Bacon-Cheddar Beer Bread

Cheddar and bacon is a coupling for the ages. Join them in culinary matrimony by using a quality Oktoberfest beer in this savory cheddar-bacon quick bread.

Cream Cheese-Swirled Pumpkin-Banana Bread With Salted Maple Butter

This pumpkin-banana bread has two unexpected surprises: a luxurious swirl of zesty cream cheese to foil the fall spices and a final flourish of maple butter spread.

Pumpkin Bread With Chocolate Chips & Pecans

This extra-moist pumpkin bread would be perfection on its own. But extra-moist pumpkin bread with chocolate chips and pecans is what food bloggers’ dreams are made of.
