The Fat-Busting Exercise Behind Kate Hudson’s 11kg Weight Loss

A quick scroll through Kate Hudson’s Instagram proves the woman means business about her postpartum weight loss: there are pics of her doing Pilates, breastfeeding mid-sweat sesh and trying out the Mirror (an interactive home gym display for those not in the know.)

But there’s one workout, in particular, Kate keeps coming back to time and time again: The NW Method. Not only does the mum-of-three frequently wax lyrical about the program and its founder (Nicole Winhoffer) on social media, she’s also shared a few snippets of her favourite moves.

“Gettin stronger….! @nicolewinhoffer kicking my ?” she captioned one clip. In it, Kate can be seen doing ‘the serpent’ – aka, a tricky variation of a push-up that’s epic for fat burning.

“The intention of this move is to cause every muscle in the body to work together at once,” Winhoffer explained in an interview with Healthista. “This move utilities the power and strength of your natural body weight. Plus, the angles that the move creates are great to help shape behind the arms, waist, and butt for women.”

In addition, Kate gravitates towards low-impact exercises to keep her muscles long and lean.

“Kate also enjoys the toning and dynamic stretching moves, and creating all sorts of strong shapes in our workouts,” Winfhoffer said.

For context, the NW Method is a total mind/body workout that uses repetition and steady-state cardio to induce muscle memory and torch calories. The moves are challenging and pretty unconventional (no lunges, no burpees), with its celebrity devotees including Sienna Miller and Naomi Watts.

“My NW Method was created with the intention to keep women in the healthiest, most natural shape for their bodies. So when looking at what I believe is the most reliable type of exercise for fitness it would be the NW Method: dance music driven workout mixed with innovative high repetition bodyweight exercises,” Winhoffer told the publication.

Clearly, it works for Kate – with the help of the NW Method and WW (of which she is an ambassador), the actress has lost nearly 11kg since giving birth to her daughter Rani Rose in September 2018.

“Okay my friends, wanted to share! I’m a couple lbs from my goal weight! I’ve done it without stressing on food or working out like crazy although I have been disciplined,” she wrote in a recent post.

“Yes, an active lifestyle I find enjoyable and yes, understanding food is a passion of mine but it doesn’t mean that I don’t need the support like everyone else. Sharing the little parts of my wellness journey with you makes me feel oh so good. I can only hope that what I put out there can make you feel good and bring encouragement in return. Love, Kate ? PS I ain’t done yet! ? #NoFilter #AndILoveAFilter ?”

Looking the goods, Kate! Keep up the great work.
