Strongman Brian Shaw Lost 20 Pounds in Two Months

Brian Shaw, four-time winner of the title of World’s Strongest Man, is on a weight loss journey. Ever since placing sixth at this year’s World Strongest Man competition, Shaw has been working hard to reduce his body fat, and reduce his overall weight to 400 pounds while still building muscle— which he believes will prove to be an asset in the more athletic, endurance-related portions of future competitions.

Shaw’s fellow strongman Eddie Hall underwent a dramatic weight loss transformation last year, losing more than 70 pounds after winning World’s Strongest Man in 2017 and subsequently retiring from the contest to focus on lower-weight competitions.

Shaw has been documenting his progress on Instagram and YouTube, beginning with a weigh-in video back in June which revealed his starting weight to be 434 pounds. Since then, he’s incorporated much more cardio into his regular training, with the aim of becoming faster for race challenges.

And, as of a video he shared a week ago, Shaw looks to be making some progress: he’s dropped down to 415 pounds, just 15 pounds away from his target weight.

“I’m going to keep working hard, I’m going to keep moving forward, and I feel like I’m getting into a really good spot with my body, with my training,” he said in the video. “What I want at the end of the day is for it to translate over into competition, and I feel like it’s going to, I feel like it will, and I’m really excited with where I’m sitting right now. I still got some work to do, and I still got some things I’m trying to work on leading up to my next contest, but we gotta keep it rolling, gotta keep the train on the track.”
