There’s not a lot in Breaking Bad that could be described as appetizing. In fact, I personally almost lost my lunch several times while watching a few of the show’s more grisly scenes. But if you recently found yourself binge-watching the show to prepare for a viewing of El Camino, the Breaking Bad movie, then you might have had your taste buds stoked by the tantalizing chicken served at Los Pollos Hermanos, a formerly fictional restaurant that will now be serving its fried chicken sandwiches in several cities across the US.
In the show, Los Pollos Hermanos is a famous regional fried chicken chain in the Southwest. Now, residents of California, Nevada, and Illinois will be able to try some of its food for themselves, with the venture kicking off in Los Angeles on October 24 and a plan to stay in business for three years.
There won’t be a brick and mortar storefront. All of the food from Los Pollos Hermanos will be available exclusively through Uber Eats.
The menu is limited, but sounds delicious. You’ll be able to order pollos tenders, “Fring” fries (named after fictional Los Pollos Hermanos owner Gustavo Fring), and the ABQ hot chicken sandwich, which features a crispy fried buttermilk chicken breast topped seasoned with spices, topped with dill pickles and mustard and served on a buttered brioche bun. There’s a side of Slaw Goodman, aka coleslaw named after lawyer Saul Goodman, with every sandwich order.
Breaking Bad creator Vince Gilligan gave the food his seal of approval, and we’re definitely anxious to try it for ourselves. Better yet? For the first six months that the restaurant is in operation, Uber Eats will offer free delivery on all orders one week a month.
Breaking Bad may be over, and diehard fans have probably already watched El Camino at least once, but now that we have Los Pollos Hermanos in our lives, we can live out our Albuquerque dreams once more — minus the meth and murder, of course.
