Wunder2 Adds Augmented Reality for Virtual Try-ons

Wunder2 Cosmetics is the latest beauty brand to add an augmented reality tool to help shoppers find the right products. Wunder2 selected YouCam Makeup as its technology partner to bring the virtual try-on feature to its web site as well as inclusion on YouCam’s app.The launch includes WunderBrow, WunderKiss Gloss, Last & Foundation, Super-Stay Liners and Pure Pigments. More stockkeeping units will roll out, but the company wanted to tackle color cosmetics first. Virtual application is top-of-mind for Wunder2 since many of its products are sold online and consumers don’t have the luxury to try them out in real life, with the exception of physical availability in CVS and Ulta Beauty.  Online availability also elevates the importance of YouCam features such as facial recognition and skin tone matching.“Thanks to the patented YouCam Makeup technology, shoppers across the country will be able to try on products and find their ideal shades without having to visit a store,” said Agnes Hjelmer, chief executive officer of Wunder2 Cosmetics. “Having launched numerous products and colors over the last year, we’re looking forward to reaching new potential customers by giving them personal access to our portfolio of shades in just a few clicks. YouCam uses a special blending technology, so customers see the true effect of the cosmetic color blended onto their skin tone. It is the most accurate and most true to life.”Alice Chang, ceo of YouCam Makeup parent Perfect Corp., added, “It was a natural fit given Wunder2’s creative vision and technology focus, and we’re excited to bring the experience to life and share with beauty shoppers everywhere.”In addition to the augmented reality tool on the brand’s website Wunder2 Cosmetics, will now be accessible within the YouCam Makeup App. That means that current users will have access to try-on two Wunder2 Cosmetic makeup looks and 25 products from the collection. There could be implementation of the virtual try-on in retail partners in the future, Hjelmer said.Perfect Corp. has more than 600 million downloads globally and most recently was selected by Target to power its Beauty Studio that is now available in 10 select stores and on target.com, on desktops and on mobile.
